DEM investigation of sand response during displacement pile installation

چکیده
Previous experimental and numerical studies indicate that the stress state of sand at a specific depth changes significantly during installation displacement pile. At given level, horizontal in increases as end pile approaches reduces continues to penetrate go past element. This reversal, together with large-strain deformation shaft, may cause reduced accuracy calculation capacity. In this paper, micro-mechanical behaviour developed around shaft closed-ended was studied using two-dimensional Discrete Element Method (DEM). Sand assembly modelled uncrushable discs, rigid clump which made large number overlapped discs fixed distance. The responses terms stress, strain volume monotonic jacking were investigated. Simulation results revealed behaviours both interface zone “B” adjacent far field “A” away from It shown along small normalised distance tip subjected reduction goes past. As drives deeper, larger exhibited dilation. captured process will give insights degradation friction horizon.

Investigation of Liquefaction Mechanism and Displacement in Buried Sand Layers
One of the most important reasons for damages during earthquakes is the liquefaction of loose and saturated sand soils. However, in many regions with proper soil specifications, the large settlements have been observed in the ground surface. Loose sand layers buried in fine soils are one of the cases which may result in these problems and as a weak point during earthquake can cause this phenome...
متن کاملBidimensional Sand Pile Model
In this paper we introduce the Bidimensional Sand Pile Model (BSPM), that is, a generalization of the Sand Pile Model (SPM) with the addition of a further dimension. The SPM and some related models have been studied in many different domains and they play an important role in the theory of discrete dynamical systems. They were considered in the context of integer lattices by Brylawski in 1973. ...
متن کاملPullout capacity of batter pile in sand
Many offshore structures are subjected to overturning moments due to wind load, wave pressure, and ship impacts. Also most of retaining walls are subjected to horizontal forces and bending moments, these forces are due to earth pressure. For foundations in such structures, usually a combination of vertical and batter piles is used. Little information is available in the literature about estimat...
متن کاملFrequency Distributions of Sand Pile Models
We calculated the frequency distributions of cluster sizes in the sand pile models. Two cellular automata models differing in the rules of adding sand particles are used. For the model with local perturbation only, the distribution shows a power law behavior regardless of the spatial dimension that the sand pile is situated at. For the other model where the perturbation generated by the additio...
متن کاملStructure of some sand pile model
spm (Sand Pile Model) is a simple discrete dynamical system used in physics to represent granular objects. It is deeply related to integer partitions, and many other combinatorics problems, such as tilings or rewriting systems. The evolution of the system started with n stacked grains generates a lattice, denoted by SPM(n). We study here the structure of this lattice. We first explain how it ca...
